About Bruce Hawley

Bruce was born on March 22nd, 1953. Bruce is the eldest of eight children, he has four brothers, three sisters. Bruce and his wife Jean have four daughters and four grandchildren.

Bruce is a life-long resident of the 73rd District, and has been an active community supporter over the years serving in many capacities.

Communtiy Organizer / Leader

Has served on several charities and committees through school, church and work;
Organized and/or directed community groups and youth sports programs;
Bruce is President and past Treasurer of the Kent City-Casnovia School Board; and
President of Tri-City Little League(s) for 30 years.

Proven Leadership Qualities

In addition to being President/Chair of many community groups, Bruce has also been
President of West Michigan Construction Alliance for 5 years;
President of West Michigan Building Trades for 10 years, and
Business Manager for Ironworkers Local 340 for the past 15 years.

Financial / Budgeting Experience

Serves on the Finance Committee at Kent City Schools;
Also serves on the Finance Council at Holy Family Church - Sparta;
Bruce has been the Financial Secretary/Treasurer of Ironworkers Local 340 for 15 years;
Bruce's financial and budgeting experience also includes all of the fundraising and financial reporting for various volunteer groups.

Educational / Training Background

Completed four year Ironworker Local 340 Apprenticeship Program;
Obtained Associate Degree in Business from Grand Rapids Community College;
Obtained Bachelor's Degree in Labor Relations from National Labor College;
Bruce also holds certificates in Fringe Benefits, Instruction, and Real Estate.
